Realismo Solitario
Solitary Realism
-The Art of Toshima Yasumasa-
Toshima Yasumasa lived only by himself. And he died only by himself. Not being influenced by anyone, nor he influenced anyone.
He made no clique himself nor joined any clique.
He seemed to have had no intention of selling his works. In his life time, he almost never even held a public exhibition.
He sought no fame, social standing and not even money for living. He slept only for a short while and ate only a minimum food to maintain his flesh.
“I don't trust anyone who wants to sleep in soft bed and eat delicious food."
Toshima spoke thus. This was exactly what Toshima's life was.
